Western Typology was first introduced in 1999 as an authentication service specializing in the typology and authentication of prehistoric projectile points, knives and other stone artifacts originating throughout the western United States.  Since then, we have expanded this service to include authentications for pieces originating in North and South America, as well as lithic artifacts from Africa, Australia, and Europe.  

Over the past decade, we have examined many thousands of artifacts from all over the world, specifically from the regions noted above.  This has given us an expansive knowledge of various lithic types, as well as the area from which those lithics most commonly originate.  As a result, we are often able to provide the customer or collector with the most probable area of origin on genuine pieces that have no associated known provenance, as this important information has been lost or forgotten since the item was first discovered.

On the occasion that we receive an item for authentication that we cannot identify, we will refer the customer to a regional authenticator and refund the cost of that evaluation.
